Environment
Planet Ikin lies within the Janta Galaxy, surrounded by asteroid belts and remnants of ancient civilized planets. On occasion, rampant ominous storms appear within several thousand miles from this docile planet, causing shifts within the planet’s magnetic field. Because of this, the planet is constantly under the effects of permafrost, although not in the sense that humans would understand. In permafrost, the air particles become so cold that the air takes on a chemical makeup similar to what we would consider water. However, this atmosphere does not hinder the breathing patterns of its inhabitants, simply because evolution has allowed the beings to adjust to the world in which they reside. The majority of Ikin’s inhabitants breathe in the form of crystallized bubbles, which are released from the body and immediately freeze.
The majority of Ikin’s inhabitants are docile creatures. However, within the last century, a particularly hostile storm caused a shift in the genetic makeup of the dominant creature of Ikin, the Kinshay. The Kinshay have, until recently, primarily feasted upon the fungus like creatures that promote a livable atmosphere in this permafrost environment and give the atmosphere its violet hue. However, recently the Kinshay have sparked a war amongst the other creatures, using their sharp teeth and suction-like appendages to grab and maim their targets. Sadly, in its current state, the future of the creatures and their planet’s survival looks bleak.
Creature Statistics
NOTE: All creatures have the ability to “fly,” or maneuver through this unique planets atmospheric makeup. However, due to the anatomy and mass restrictions of certain species, some can transcend much higher than others.
Kinshay – Dominant creature of planet Ikin, until recently these creatures lived harmoniously with the other creatures. Kinshay move on all four of its limbs, using suction like feet and hands to not only grab onto foliage and navigate the realm, but also to capture prey, much like a spider’s nest. Kinshay use their massive tail to maneuver through the atmosphere, although cannot ascend higher than 1,000 feet, as their body mass weighs them down.
Boklings – These cute, docile creatures used to live harmoniously with the Kinshay, and until recently, used to have a friendship with the more dominant species. However, because of circumstance, the Boklings have made a new home in the skies of planet Ikin. In certain areas of the atmosphere, most notably seen 5,000 to 10,000 feet above the ground, the influx of the magnetic field has frozen the atmosphere permanently where the concentration was the greatest. These areas are crystallized havens, and provide the boklings temporary haven from the Kinshay. However, due to the nature of the planet and galaxy, these homes are known to vaporize and reform in other areas of the sky. This process has proven to be fatal for some boklings, as the formations of these crystallized areas sometimes appear without warning and can shred a bokling into pieces, trapping their remains in a frozen tomb.
Boklings are very light, allowing these Ikin beings to ascend as high as 25,000 feet above the ground. However, their main source of food, the fungus-like creatures, remains attached to the planet’s ground, where the Kinshay like in great numbers.
